Practical Completion and Tentative Hand-Over Dates

Justin spoke to our site manager yesterday morning who has given a practical completion date of 16 July 2015.  We will meet on site to go through the house together.  A tentative handover date of 28 July 2015 was also mentioned.

Justin has gone ahead and booked the pool construction to commence on 10 August 2015.  He also arranged for Franklyn, who are doing our interior blinds and exterior security screens and doors, to come for a measure on 16 July 2015 while we are all there on site.

Considering we still have a driveway and entrance stairs to go in, shower screens, taps, shower heads, power points, lights, oven, rangehood, bath tubs. laundry tub etc etc to go in - the 16 July 2015 date seems very soon.

I called our site manager to discuss some of the issues that I see occurring so that we aren't waiting until 16 July 2015 during our onsite meeting to raise them.

1. The excess soil that I discussed with our old site manager in January 2015. Whilst the soil in the front yard has settled somewhat, compacted with the scaffolding on top of it and rain has washed some of it away, I am not happy with the amount that has been left there.  I raised with the site manager and we need this dealt with before any handover.  The site manager said that he has been onsite and does not think there is a problem with excess soil in the front yard, but he will look at it.  Based on my inspection of the front yard, there is too much soil left there from Metricon's initial cut, and I was assured that this would be removed once the flat pad for the scaffolding was no longer required in the front yard.  We will wait for further advice on this.

2. There was a defect in the frame of the master bedroom that someone highlighted with bright yellow spray paint circle. I assumed this would be fixed by someone before painting was done. Nope, just painted over it!

And yes, the interior painting has been done and I will provide an updated post about that shortly. The garage was still being finished when I went there last, so I will wait for my next visit to get a full set of pictures! Exciting times.
